Detailed Description

Calcium hypochlorite is the main active ingredient of commercial products called bleaching powder, chlorine powder, or chlorinated lime, used for water treatment and as a bleaching agent. This compound is relatively stable and has greater available chlorine than sodium hypochlorite (liquid bleach). It is a white solid, although commercial samples appear yellow. It strongly smells of chlorine, owing to its slow decomposition in moist air. It is not highly soluble in hard water and is more preferably used in soft to medium-hard water. It can be either dry (anhydrous); or hydrated (hydrous).

Calcium hypochlorite is Fast-dissolving granulated compound, for the treatment of swimming pool water and industrial water.

Mainly used for the bleaching of pulp in the paper industry and the bleaching of cotton, hemp and silk fabrics in the textile industry. Also used for disinfecting in urban and rural drinking water, swimming pool water, etc.

In the chemical industry, it is used in the purification of acetylene and the manufacture of chloroform and other organic chemical raw materials. It can be used as anti-shrinking agent and deodorant for wool.
