Diallyldimethylammonium chloride (DADMAC) is a high purity, strongly cationic quaternary ammonium monomer. This means it has a positive charge. The positive charge of DADMAC enables its polymers to interact with negatively charged particles, resulting in effective coagulation and flocculation.
DADMAC is a water-soluble monomer, and its aqueous solution is a colorless, transparent, slightly viscous, non-irritating liquid. This product has two specifications with a content of 60% and 65%. It is mainly used to produce cationic polymers such as PolyDADMAC and its copolymers.
DADMAC is very stable at room temperature, does not hydrolyze, is non-flammable, and has little skin irritation. It has high reactivity, low toxicity, and excellent thermal and chemical stability.
DADMAC contains olefinic double bonds in its molecular structure, and a series of high molecular polymer products are formed through homopolymerization or copolymerization with other monomers. Its polymer can be used as an excellent formaldehyde-free color fixative in textile dyeing and finishing auxiliaries, forming a film on the fabric to improve color fastness; it can be used as a retention and drainage aid, an antistatic agent for paper coating, and an AKD ripening accelerator in papermaking auxiliaries; it can be used for decolorization, flocculation, and purification in water treatment, and is highly efficient and non-toxic; it can be used as a combing agent, wetting agent, and antistatic agent for shampoo in daily chemicals; it can be used as a clay stabilizer and an acid fracturing fluid cationic additive in oilfield chemicals. Its main functions are electrical neutralization, adsorption, flocculation, purification, and decolorization. In particular, as a modifier for synthetic resins, it can give the resin conductivity and antistatic properties.
