DBNPA

DBNPA is a broad-spectrum, highly effective industrial biocide designed to prevent the growth and reproduction of bacteria and algae in papermaking, industrial recirculating cooling water, metalworking lubricants, pulp, wood, coatings, and plywood. It also serves as a slime control agent and is widely used in pulp and recirculating cooling water systems in paper mills.

    Properties:

    ● Slightly soluble in water (25°C, 1.5 g/100 g (water));

    ● Relatively stable under acidic conditions; prone to hydrolysis under alkaline conditions;

    ● Soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, benzene, dimethylformamide, ethanol, and polyethylene glycol;

    ● Increasing the pH, heating, or exposure to ultraviolet light can accelerate its decomposition;

    ● Easily reduced by reducing agents; when exposed to hydrogen sulfide, it decomposes into non-toxic cyanoethylamine, which affects its bactericidal efficacy.

    ● When the pH rises from 6.7 to 9.7, the half-life decreases from 37 hours to 0.11 hours.

    Applications

    I. Water Treatment

    Industrial circulating cooling water systems: Rapidly kills microorganisms in water, removes biofouling from equipment surfaces, improves heat exchange efficiency, reduces energy consumption and corrosion risks, supports intermittent or continuous dosing, and is effective at low concentrations;

    Reverse Osmosis (RO)/Nanofiltration Membrane Systems: Causes no damage to polyamide composite membranes; rapidly kills microorganisms on membrane surfaces; prevents biofouling; extends membrane lifespan; leaves no residues and is easily biodegradable; suitable for long-term protection of membrane systems;

    Oilfield Water Treatment: Controls sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in reinjection water, prevents hydrogen sulfide formation and pipeline corrosion, ensures stable drilling fluid performance, and is suitable for seawater desalination pretreatment on offshore platforms.

    II. Paper and Wood Industry

    Paper Industry: Used for pulp preservation and disinfection in white water recirculation systems; inhibits mold growth, odors, and slime blockages caused by microorganisms; reduces paper breaks; and improves paper quality and production efficiency;

    Wood and Plywood: Prevents mold and blue stain during wood storage and use; inhibits microbial growth in plywood adhesives; enhances panel durability; and is suitable for wood protection in humid environments.

    III. Chemical and Materials Industries

    Coatings and Adhesives: Prevents mold growth and viscosity loss in water-based coatings, emulsion paints, and adhesives during storage and use; particularly suitable for architectural coatings and industrial adhesives in high-humidity environments;

    Metalworking Fluids: Inhibits bacterial and fungal growth in cutting fluids and emulsions, extends the service life of processing fluids, and prevents odor generation and corrosion of metal components;

    Polymer and Textile Additives: Protects polymer emulsions (such as acrylates and vinyl acetate) and textile printing and dyeing pastes, preventing product degradation caused by microbial contamination.

    IV. Other Industrial Applications

    Mining: Controls microorganisms in slurry and water treatment systems to prevent equipment corrosion and pipeline blockages;

    Leather Processing: Inhibits microbial growth during the tanning process to prevent mold growth and odors in leather, ensuring product quality.

    Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Keep containers tightly closed. Keep away from heat sources and open flames—no smoking. Keep away from food and incompatible substances.
